1nterpretation of selection criteria for protective masks

Recently, with the continuous invasion of haze weather, masks with high filtration and protection performance have become a necessary small artifact for the public to go out. But the English letters on mask products often confuse people. What is the difference between N95, R95 and p95? Does kn100 mean that the filter efficiency of the mask is 100%? 1n fact, these signs represent different protection levels of each mask. Each mask can provide corresponding protection level according to its different standards

N95 mask is the most familiar mask product for consumers. 1n fact, N95 is not a product name, but one of the nine categories of particulate matter respirators in the National 1nstitute for occupational safety and health (N1OSH) standard. N means “non oil” and 95 means “the efficiency of mask filtering non oil particles is at least 95%”. Generally, non oily particles refer to coal dust, cement dust, acid mist, microorganism, etc. At present, in the rampant haze pollution, suspended particles are mostly non oily. Oily particles refer to oil fume, oil mist, asphalt fume, etc. Therefore, N95 mask is a kind of mask that can block 95% or more non oily particles

in addition to the N series standards, there are R and P series standards in the United States. R refers to “resistant to oil”, while P refers to “oil protective”, which can filter both oily and non oily particles. These three series are further divided into three grades: 95, 99 and 100, which respectively represent the filtration efficiency of /= 95%.>/= 99% and /= 99.97%. 1n the international market, another mainstream mask standard is European EN standard. According to this standard, masks are divided into three categories: ffp1, FFP2 and ffp3, and the corresponding filtration efficiency is /= 80%.>/= 94% and /= 99%. This standard is applicable to both oily and non oily particulates

at present, China adopts the national compulsory standard gb2626-2006 “respiratory protective equipment – self priming filter type anti particulate respirator” as the product standard of protective masks. According to gb2626-2006, anti particulate respirators are mainly divided into kn and KP. According to American Standard, kn mask can only filter non oily particles, while KP mask can filter both oily and non oily particles. According to the different filtration efficiency, it can be divided into three levels: 90%, 95% and 100, representing the lowest filtration efficiency of 90%, 95% and 99.97% respectively. Generally speaking, there is no essential difference between GB standard of our country and foreign mainstream standards in terms of product protection performance and comfort

at present, the State Administration of work safety clearly requires that the special labor protection articles produced by enterprises must obtain the safety mark of special labor protection articles (LA mark). Therefore, as a member of the special labor protection equipment, the protective mask must be certified to prove its function is true and effective
