How much do you know about arc protective clothing

Astmf1506 standard performance specifications for textile materials:

astmf1506 has formulated performance specifications for flame retardant textile materials used for clothing of power workers who will be exposed to instantaneous arc and other thermal hazards. The relevant requirements of astmf1506 protection include vertical combustion method (new material after washing) and arc grading

in addition, the standard requires that the fabric is not easy to be ignited or can contain combustion and extinguish itself after ignition. The flame retardancy was tested by ftm5903.1 vertical combustion method (the maximum damage length was about 15 cm after exposure to flame for 2 seconds). Arc grading was evaluated by ATPV or EBT value after passing astmf1959 test

astmf1891 Standard Specification for arc proof and flame retardant raincoat:

this standard is applicable to the flame retardant and waterproof materials of raincoat, which can use flame retardant coating or laminated fabric to produce clothing. The flame retardancy was determined by astmd-6413 vertical combustion method, and the ATPV value also needs to be recorded. The minimum EBT value was selected to record. 1n order to be more suitable for coated fabrics, the standard is currently being revised in order to add fabric flammability test method

nfpa70e standard for power safety requirements in working environment:

the latest version of nfpa70e standard published by NFPA in 2004 contains all aspects of power safety rules in working environment of various industries. Nfpa70e suggests that in the case of arc, personal equipment for arc protection and flame retardant must meet the performance standards of astmf1506, astmf1891 and astmf2178 when used, and the revised version requires enterprises to conduct arc hazard analysis in advance to determine the arc safety limit. The standard is set to protect the employees within the arc safety limit by using protective clothing with ATPV value of corresponding hazard risk classification. The unit of ATPV is cal / cm2, which represents the thermal protection value of arc, and is used to reflect the maximum protection performance of arc protection materials, especially arc protection clothing

nfpa70e sets safe electricity standards for workers working near live equipment, standardizes and designs necessary steps to prevent serious injuries caused by arc accidents. According to nfpa70e, every person working within the arc safety limit (the energy released within this range is greater than 1.2cal/cm2) must be competent and wear appropriate flame retardant arc protective clothing. NFPA classifies risk into 0 ~ 4 grades to show different risk levels. The minimum risk level is burn caused by arc explosion with energy of 4cal / cm2, which is the risk classification of NFPA 70E. 1n order to get sufficient protection in case of arc explosion, the staff must wear NFPA certified thermal protective clothing with ATPV value no less than grade 4

another important grading of arc protective clothing is HAF grading. HAF represents the thermal attenuation coefficient, which represents the amount of heat the fabric prevents
